The Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on 10th January 2016, this year. Like every year, lakhs of students applied for UPSC SCRA 2016 this year also who want to make their future bright as Class 1 officers in Indian Railway service of Mechanical Engineering. UPSC SCRA 2016 is among highly privileged examinations in India. It serves best Mechanical Engineers in Railway Department of the nation from all over the India.

As the UPSC SCRA 2016 examination has held successfully nationwide, now its time for its results. Though the seats are very few and the number of aspirants is in lakhs, the candidates who have prepared very hard and had great exam will undoubtedly get one of the seats. As per the sources, only 54 candidates will get selected through written examination held on 10th January 2016 for the personality test which will probably happen in the month of  June 2016. From the 54 students selected for personality test, only 30 students will get finally admitted in UPSC SCRA 2016. Therefore, there are only 30 seats and the applying candidates are in lakhs, hence, the competition gets tough.

ABOUT THE UPSC SCRA 2016 EXAMINATION

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is a central government organization and organizes the recruitment examination for government departments. Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) is also a recruitment examination for Indian Railway Department for 4 years of apprenticeship which on completing successfully serves as Class-1 Officers in Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineering (IRSME).

And hence, the selected candidates will undergo 4 years training period in Mechanical Engineering for which the institute has MOU with BIT Mesra, Ranchi. After completion of 4 years training period, the candidates will get Bachelors of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering and join as IRSME.

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC SCRA 2016

Nationality- The aspirants for UPSC SCRA 2016 examination should be either-

  1. An Indian national.
  2. A subject of Nepal OR
  3. A subject of Bhutan OR
  4. A Tibetan refugee came to India before 1st January 1962 to become the permanent citizen of India.
  5. A person from Indian origin migrated from Burma, East African countries of Kenya, United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zambia, Zaire, and Vietnam to become the permanent citizen of India.

As per the sources provided that the candidate who belongs to categories 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th mentioned above will be a person in whose favor the government of India will issue a certificate of eligibility.

Age Limit- The candidates applied for UPSC SCRA 2016 should be between 17 to 21 years of age on 1st August of the year of examination. Also, certain categories of persons as specified in the notice are eligible for age relaxation.

Educational Qualifications- For admission to the UPSC SCRA 2016 examination, an applicant must have:

Passed in the 1st or 2nd Division, the Intermediate or an equivalent examination from a university or board approved by the Indian Government with Maths and at least 1 of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of examination.

Physical Standard- 

The candidates should be physically fit as per physical standards for admission to UPSC SCRA 2016 examimation.

UPSC SCRA 2016 Examination Pattern

The examination consists of 2 parts, part 1 includes written examination of questions from Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language and General Knowledge and part 2 includes Personality Test. The examination scheme consists distribution of marks like this:

UPSC SCRA 2016 Result

As per the sources, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is going to publish the result of UPSC SCRA 2016 in the month of June on its official  website (http://www.upsc.gov.in) but the date for result is not yet decided.

Steps for downloading the result of UPSC SCRA 2016:

  • Step 1: Go to the official website of UPSC SCRA 2016.
  • Step 2: Click on the link provided for UPSC SCRA Result 2016 in the notification box.
  • Step 3: The link will get open on your screen.
  • Step 4: Now click on “download the result”.
  • Step 5: Now you can see your Roll No. on the downloaded folder if you are selected.
